BEGIN A FAMILY TRADITION OF PHILANTHROPY

Philanthropy is an expression of your family’s values, offering you the opportunity to involve your children and grandchildren in repairing our world and supporting causes that are important to all of you.

There are many ways to involve multiple generations in philanthropy at JCF.
Here are some ideas to get you started.

Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

Open a Donor Advised Fund (DAF). This Fund can be established in your name to support the charities you choose. At JCF, you can establish a DAF with as little as $10,000.  In addition, assets held for at least one year are fully tax-deductible when contributed to a DAF, and any funds held in the account grow tax-free.

Supporting Foundation

Establish a Supporting Foundation with JCF.  This may reduce administrative and tax burdens, allowing you to focus on making high-impact grants with family members.  A Supporting Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit corporation which receives its status as a public charity because of its affiliation with JCF of Greater MetroWest.  Supporting Foundations are governed and operated by their own board of trustees, a majority of whom are appointed by JCF, allowing multiple generations to make philanthropic decisions together.

Multi-Generational Philanthropy

Explore Multi-Generational Philanthropy with your family during times of generational transition.  JCF professionals have been trained by 21/64  to strengthen relationships and communication across multiple generations working together on family foundations, donor advised fund holders and other family enterprises.  JCF professionals are available for a range of consultations including workshops, retreats or longer-term engagements.
