Next Gen Research

JCF is proud to have partnered with 21/64, a nonprofit consulting practice with special focus on Next Gen and multi-generational philanthropy.

21/64 recently teamed up with the Johnson Center to conduct an in-depth study on the giving patterns of Next Gen Jewish donors in order to better understand what kind of philanthropy we can expect from the rising generations of major Jewish donors in Generations X and Y.

JCF Family Philanthropy

While multi-generational philanthropic endeavors are wonderful opportunities, challenges can and often do arise. Today’s adults have greater access to information, diversity and global connectedness than previous generations, which impacts their involvement in family-centered philanthropy.

Studies have shown that while next-generation adult children (Next Gen) may feel just as committed to philanthropy as their parents, they wish to be involved in very different ways. In addition, many people in the Next Gen are also parents of young adults, and are looking for ways to encourage their children’s individual philanthropy as well as involve them in multi-generational philanthropy. Each generation has a unique world view. Mix in family dynamics and philanthropy can get interesting.

Professionals at JCF have been trained by 21/64 to work on multi-generational issues with families, family foundations, donor advised fund holders and other family enterprises during times of generational transition. We are available for a range of consultations including workshops, retreats or longer-term engagements.
