The Shorashim (Roots) EventShorashim (Hebrew for “roots”) was created specifically to bring together legacy donors from many giving societies for a combined celebration of their generosity and forethought. Societies include the William and Betty Lester Society, honoring donors with endowments for the UJA Annual Campaign, and Lion of Judah Endowments, which preserve a woman’s Lion of Judah commitment to Women’s Philanthropy. JCF also recognizes endowments to Federation agencies and Greater MetroWest day schools through MetroWest Tomorrow and the Herskowitz Society, respectively. JCF is proud to offer Create a Jewish Legacy to help selected synagogues and agencies increase bequests, endowments, and other legacy gifts to their organizations.

About the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ

The Jewish Community Foundation (JCF), founded in 1949, remains committed to ensuring our community for future generations.

JCF works to fulfill the cherished Jewish precepts of tzedakah (charity) and tikkun olam (to repair the world) by managing the charitable funds of our donors and working with them to inspire additional philanthropic, ongoing support for community needs in Greater MetroWest NJ, Israel, and around the world.

JCF is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ (Federation), and serves as its planned giving and endowment department. JCF also welcomes the opportunity to be of service to recognized charities of every kind — religious, educational, and secular in content as well as, regional, national, and international in scope.

JCF manages The Lester Society, which honors those who have created endowments of $100,000 or more in support of the UJA-Annual Campaign, and Lion of Judah Endowments for women philanthropists who have endowed their Lion of Judah gifts. These are among the most critical sources of support for Federation today.

JCF recognizes endowment donors to day schools in Greater MetroWest through the Herskowitz Society and honors those who make similar commitments to Federation agencies and JCF initiatives (such as Jewish camp) through MetroWest Tomorrow.

JCF is proud to offer the Create a Jewish Legacy (CJL) program in our community.  CJL helps synagogues and agencies increase bequests, endowments, and other legacy gifts to their organizations.
